Introduction to Penang - Tanjung Bungah
Penang's Tanjung Bungah lies in the north of the island and is a favourite stopping-off point for beach-goers en route to the more popular resort of Batu Ferringhi. Tanjung Bungah hotels are typically cheaper than those at the larger, neighbouring resort to the west and line the coast. The main draw here is the recently-completed Floating Mosque, while kids will enjoy a visit to the Penang Toy Museum. The area is popular with expats thanks to its decent schools and leisure facilities. The coast here is sandy, offering the perfect spot for visitors to work on their tans. Inland from the coast and a pleasant daytrip away is the Botanical Gardens, while George Town's historic draws sit to the south. The fishing village heritage of the resort is all but gone aside from the routine daily catches that are hauled in to cater to the seafood-loving guests staying here. Visit our Penang Travel Guide
