Introduction to Penang - Bukit Mertajam
Known as the 'Food Paradise of Malaysia', Penang offers visitors history, culture, excellent shopping and divine food, and is a great place to visit for at least a few days. Although most travellers head to Penang Island, the mainland area, known as Seberang Perai, also has plenty to offer visitors. Bukit Martajam is a great place to use as a base as it is close to the Butterworth Bus Terminal and the KTM train station, and there is no shortage of Bukit Mertajam hotels here. The Bukit Mertajam Recreational Forest is the area's main draw and is known among the locals for its therapeutic merits. The nearby Mengkuang Dam is the largest such dam in Penang and offers visitors plenty of recreational activies. For stunning views of the Penang Bridge, head to Bukit Berapit, a hill that consists of exotic fruit trees and houses two lovely Buddhist temples.Visit our Penang Travel Guide
