Introduction to Pangkor - Lumut
The gateway to the popular travel destination of Pangkor Island is Lumut, a little town on the peninsular coast known mainly for its exquisite coral and seashell handicrafts. This one-street town doesn't have a huge variety of amenities, but visitors will find enough restaurants, shops and hotels to make their stay comfortable for a day or two. There are a couple of beaches in Lumut such as Teluk Batik, which is good for some sunning on the sand. Taman Paya Bakau is a nice little park with a mangrove forest and paths to explore it. The Dinding River is also next to the town, and is popular for its river cruises. There are plenty of hotels in Lumut to choose from, but they probably won't impress as much as the ones over on Pangkor Island. Besides being a ferry departure point for Pangkor, Lumut is the home of Malaysia's largest naval base. Visit our Pangkor Travel Guide
