Introduction to Miri - City Centre
On the Malaysian island of Borneo is the city of Miri.

While not much of a destination in itself, the city is a useful transit point for excursions to more popular attractions in Sarawak such as Gunung Mulu National Park and the world-famous Kelabit Highlands.

Miri is a town built on foreign oil companies, so it's no surprise that it is home to the Grand Old Lady Petroleum Museum.

Also in the downtown area visitors will find Tamu Muhibah, a local fresh market full of exotic fruits, vegetables and other fascinating products.

Miri City Centre hotels are mainly budget and mid-range places serving business people and other travellers.

The nicer hotels and resorts are located on the outskirts of town.

Plenty of fun bars are situated in the city centre, where the local rice wine known as tuak is liberally served.

The town is also known for its diverse range of restaurants featuring both Malay and other Asian cuisines.
