Introduction to Mersing, Malaysia
Mersing, a small town on the east coast of Malaysia's Johor State, is for most visitors merely a transit point on the way to regional destinations. One of the biggest complaints of many tourists, especially those from abroad, tends to be that there is nothing to do here. This is a great shame as the town offers the chance to sample a slice of the old way of life from a time when people relaxed while savouring the subtleties of life instead of rushing between cafes, shops and discos. A colourful and historic Hindu temple can easily be found next to the hill in the town centre. About 15 minutes away by taxi from hotels in Mersing, picturesque views can be enjoyed from a hill-top mosque. The most popular attractions, however, are ranged throughout the surrounding countryside. Though nearby islands like Tioman are home to many of the beaches most sought-after by tourists, several picturesque beaches are located close to the town itself. Some of these beaches are near the scenic fishing village of Penyabung, some 20kms from town. Most people either drive to Mersing or take one of the buses that connect the town with Singapore and parts of Malaysia.other spellings: mersing otel, mesing hotell, mersin hote, marsing hotels, mersing hotle
