Introduction to Kuching - Airport
Kuching Airport is not only the main gateway to the city of the same name in Malaysia, but also the entire state of Sarawak, which forms the country's eastern portion. This hub, formally called Kuching International Airport, received major renovations between 2005 and 2006 and is located just 11kms south of the city, the biggest on the entire island of Borneo. More than 250 domestic flights depart this airport each week, including one flight to Malaysia's national capital, Kuala Lumpur, each hour. Kuala Lumpur and Kota Kinabalu are the only Malaysian airports larger in size than this one, whose terminal is now capable of handling up to five million passengers a year. In 2008, more than three million passengers used the facility, and many of them were guests at Kuching Airport hotels. One unique thing about this hub is that all passengers arriving from Peninsular Malaysia must enter immigration controls along with international passengers. Passengers entering from other countries will get their passports stamped only once, while passengers entering from Sabah or Peninsular Malaysia will receive two stamps on their passports.other spellings: kuchinghotels airport, kuching airpot otel, koching hotell airport, kushing air port hote
