Kedah is a state of Malaysia which comprises of mainland and an archipelago of islands. Kedah is bound by Thailand to the north and Penang to the south. The mainland of Kedah has a large number of tourist attractions including an archaeological park, hot springs and many waterfalls. Only a few areas of Kedah offer a good selection of accommodation, including Alor Setar and Sungai Pentani. The islands of Langkawi feature the highest concentration of hotels in Kedah. Island based hotels offer accommodation to suit every budget, and many hotels are family orientated. Hotels in Kedah vary, but mid range offerings are usually the best bet. Many hotels offer guests a wide range of facilities including a swimming pool and leisure pursuits. Some of the cheaper hotels look a bit shabby and scuffed; however, service is usually friendly and efficient. Hotels vary depending on location, with island based Kedah hotels offering a wider range of accommodation.
