Introduction to Kajang, Malaysia

The town of Kajang sits in eastern Selangor State, just 20kms from Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. The town is easy to reach from KL by car, bus or train, so visitors staying at hotels in Kajang can enjoy both their immediate vicinity as well as the big capital city. The Sungai Chua area of town is one of the best known, though activity is spread throughout many areas. At night, many of the places to visit are found in the Kajang Highlands and Prima Saujana areas. An expressway known as the SILK, or the Kajang Dispersal Link, makes it easy to get around town. There is plenty of shopping at complexes like the Billiion Centre and the Taman Technology Kajang. One of the best ways to sample local life and cuisine is at one of the night markets (pasar malam in Malay) at places like Taman Mesra on Jalan Cheras. After-dark is an ideal time to enjoy some of the satay (grilled, skewered meat) for which the town is famous throughout the country. Getting in and out by rail is easy from the main KTM station on Jalan Bukit.
