Introduction to Bintulu, Malaysia
A seaside town enjoying the splendours of the coast of Malaysia's Sarawak State, Bintulu is home to some 200,000 people. Much effort was recently spent trying to cultivate tourism in the town, which does not traditionally see many tourists. The town's economy is derived largely from gas and oil complexes in the region. One colourful destination is the old fishing village of Kampung Jepak, where visitors can see local fisherman handling and processing their catches. The state's first legislative assembly was born in the town, a piece of history commemorated by the Council Negri Monument. The traditional way of life is one of the biggest attractions, so visitors staying at hotels in Bintulu should not miss the chance to sample market life at the adjoining pasar (markets) of Utama and Tamu Bintulu. Those interested in local religious activities can visit Assyakirin Mosque and Kuan Ying Tong Temple. The town even features an unusual beach where rocks and sand lie next to each other at Tanjung Batu. The best way to reach the town is via its airport, which is 10kms to the south. Intercity buses to major cities and Brunei are available from Medan Jaya, but expect long trips.other spellings: bintuu otel, bintolo hotell, pintulu hote, bentuluhotels, bintulu hotle, bintulu hotes
