The Ardennes Mountains form the country’s border with Belgium, to the north, and provide an alpine environment for activity in both summer and winter. The Moselle Valley, in the south, is renowned for wine-making and offers relaxation on the banks of the meandering Moselle River.
Luxembourg Ardennes: is the mountainous area located in the northern part of the country and is the perfect destination for nature lovers. You’ll come across story-book castles such as Clarvaux and Esch-sur-Sure, picturesque resort towns and the 9th century Chateau de Vianden, a beautifully-restored fortress overlooking the town of Vianden. It’s also in the Ardennes that you can climb to Luxembourg’s highest point, the Buurgplatz, at over 1,800 feet.
One popular tour is by car, visiting a good selection of Moselle wineries and leaving the driving to someone else. Fishing and boating on the Moselle are also quite popular and these excursions can be easily organised as well.
