If you’re visiting in the winter, you’ll probably want to try the skiing that the Ardennes have to offer and the popular cross-country skiing trails through specially-designated nature reserves in the northern area.
Skiing in the Ardennes: even though snowfall here isn’t as consistent as in the Alps, the Ardennes still makes a great place for skiing. The country boasts around a dozen ski resorts dedicated to downhill skiing, but you need to check in advance to make sure there’s been enough snow for them to open.
Horseback riding: is a favourite with locals and you’ll find some excellent facilities providing hourly rates as well as instruction. The Federation Luxembourgeoise des Sports Equestres maintains lists of approved stables and also organises tours on horseback in the capital city and around the surrounding countryside.
Golf: is quite a popular sport here. There’s an 18-hole course that’s known throughout Europe for its narrow and extremely challenging fairways. The course is managed by the Grand-Ducal Golf Club, headquartered in Luxembourg City: visitors are welcome to play and can make reservations by contacting the Golf Club.
