Introduction

Overview & Introduction to Luxembourg
The real Luxembourg is a country of great natural beauty offering beautiful mountain ranges and lush green woodlands alongside fascinating medieval architecture, traditional villages and places of historic interest.
Luxembourg City is the country’s capital and was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1994. It’s a modern metropolis offering all the trappings of 21st century life as well as a variety of places of interest for the visitor including the Old Town, the Chateau of the Counts of Luxembourg, the Casemates, the Grand Ducal Palace, the Market at Place Guillaume, the National Museum of Art and History and the Notre-Dame Cathedral.
Once settled in, you’ll find getting around is easy via the country’s extensive bus and rail network which provides both intercity connections and travel within the cities themselves.
The country is easily reached by air with Luxembourg International Airport located just 5kms from the capital city. The airport maintains connections with a variety of European cities as well as international destinations. On account of Luxembourg’s size, this is its only airport and is consequently the major international gateway into the country.
