Introduction to Luxembourg City, Luxembourg
The capital of Luxembourg looks like something out of a fairytale and offers the chance to enjoy storybook beauty in a city largely comprising an UNESCO World Heritage site. This is a city that can easily be enjoyed on foot and Luxembourg City hotels are close to all of the key attractions. With a free map from the tourist information office, visitors can enjoy many superb walking tours. The only bit of heavy legwork involved is the trek into the High City, home to the city's medieval centre. A few minutes from most accommodation, this fabulous historic area offers many great views across the city as well many bars, bistros, restaurants and cafes. The Grand Ducal Palace, which originally dates from the 16th century, sits almost in the centre of the old town. The area below the old town is filled with a maze of old tunnels from the 18th century called the Bock Casemates. The country's National Museum of History and Art, the MNHA, is an impressive modern building containing a huge range of art and historical exhibits in the west of the city.Visit our Luxembourg City Travel Guide
