Introduction to Vilnius - Snipiskes
The Lithuanian city of Vilnius is the country's biggest city, as well as its capital. With a history dating back to Medieval times, the city is home to more than 500,000 people who descend from a number of nations including Poland, Russia and Ukraine, in addition to the large population of Lithuanians. Snipiskes hotels are ideally located for access to the burgeoning commercial district that has sprung up here on the banks of the Neris River, as well as other central areas. The local Kalvarijos Market is a popular shopping destination and there are many beautiful parks throughout the district. The centre of Vilnius, less than a kilometre away, can easily be reached on public transport, apart from during rush hours, which can get very busy. Vilnius International Airport is about 10kms to the south and provides connections to many European destinations. The city's Old Town is an UNESCO World Heritage site, thanks to the proliferation of buildings from the 13th to 19th centuries. The city's many other attractions, from museums and galleries to historic monuments, can either be reached on foot or with trolley or regular buses.Visit our Vilnius Travel Guide
