Kaunas - go the Ninth Fort
Lithuania was one of a handful of countries that were occupied by both the Russians and Germans during World War 2, and the Ninth Fort is a memorial to the atrocities committed by both, against Lithuanians. The museum, created in 1958, showcases 4 cells in which the atrocities occurred, and threre is a memorial, to the victims of Nazism, located in a field, where an estimated 30,000 people were killed.Klaipeda - visit the Maritime Museum at the port
Klaipeda has been an important maritime centre for over 750 years, as it is the northern most ice-free port of the Baltic. The port complex has a number of informative sites to visit, including the Maritime Museum, plus an aquarium and dolphinarium. St Anne’s Church in Vilnius is an unusual mix of Gothic design on the outside, and Baroque style on the inside. The stunning brick exterior, completed in 1500, looks like wood from a distance.
