Introduction to Riga - Airport
As the capital of Latvia, Riga is a major cultural and commercial centre, as well as the largest city in the Baltic States, making the Riga International Airport (RIX) the most important transportation link in the region. The hub provides direct connections to over 80 cities in 30 countries and acts as a base for several airlines, including airBaltic, SmartLynx Arlines, Vip Avia, RAF-Avia and Inversija. There are three terminals, with terminal B serving the 25 European countries in the Schengen Area, and terminals A & C serving non-Schengen departures spanning from Moscow to New York City. Plans to construct a fourth terminal are currently underway. The airport has its own magazine, GatewayRiga, informing passengers about new destinations and routes, as well as updates on the airport itself. There are a number of options for getting to the city, including buses, minibuses, taxis, and limos.
