Vientiane Travel Guide - Weather

The cool season (late October to March) is for many, the best time to visit as temperatures are quite bearable and rainfall is all but non-existent aside from the odd spell around the beginning of the season. Daily highs during this season are in the high 20’s with evenings a few degrees cooler but by no means cold.
As the cool season draws to a close, temperatures begin to increase rapidly and by April it’s not unusual to see daily highs of 35°C or higher. Humidity is also high at this time and the occasional rain shower is common. Backpacking in this season is possible but not altogether comfortable and trying to sleep in budget accommodation without air conditioning can be hellish to say the least.
