Introduction to Luang Prabang - Riverside
Luang Prabang is one of Asia’s most picturesque cities. The former royal capital of Laos is located at the meeting point of the majestic Mekong River and the smaller Nam Khan River. Stunning views can be found from Luang Prabang hotels on both rivers. The Mekong riverside hosts a number of laid-back restaurants which treat diners to the most magnificent sunsets. Visitors arriving by boat will arrive at the Mekong riverside area. Daily slow boats make the two-day trip from Huay Xai, on the Thai border. On the other hand, speedboats can make the journey in just one day. The riverside is just a few minutes’ walk from the city’s main attractions, such as the buzzing night market. Alternatively, travellers can rent a bicycle to get around the city. Travellers based here can choose from a number of daytrips, including those to waterfalls, caves and even a bear sanctuary. Luang Prabang International Airport has daily connections from countries across Asia, including Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia, as well as the Laos capital, Vientiane.Visit our Luang Prabang Travel Guide
