Activities in Petra
There are a number of ways to get around the sites, some of which are well spread out. Hiking is popular here, although it can get very hot in the summer when camels and donkeys are the preferred mode of transport. Horseback rides are also available for those who want to build up some speed.
Sightseeing: is the main reason for coming to Petra given the awesome collection of ancient structures on display. Most visitors will only stay one or two days but in truth there is plenty more to explore for those that have the time and the patience to see things in the dry desert heat.
Camel riding: given the climate and the terrain, camels are the preferred mode of transport around these parts. Camels are only usually available for hire once visitors have gotten inside the main old city through the Siq.
