Festivals and Events in Jordan
Festivals are not necessarily the highlight of Jordan and many can result in a reduction in party-like behaviour in the country. Nonetheless, like in any country, holidays and festivals offer an insight into the local culture and a sense of occasion that is well worth a look if you happen to be here at the right time.
March Festivals

International Amman Theatre Festival: this new annual event lasting just over a week, extending into April, sees a series of theatrical performances held at Amman’s Royal Cultural Centre.
May Festivals

Jordan Rally: is the country’s premier racing event held in and around the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and the Rumman forests, which reach up to more than a thousand metres above sea level.
July Festivals

Jerash Festival: this two-week-long cultural extravaganza in the old Roman city of Jerash is a mix of theatrical performance, music, ballet, po;etry, handicrafts and lots more, with most shows taking place in the evenings.
Global Village: month-long event in the capital featuring country pavilions reflecting Jordanian culture and folklore, a theatre and a huge funfair with thrill rides, stalls and games on offer.
August Festivals

Amman Short Film Festival: a new entry on Jordan’s cultural calendar, this week-long short film festival serves up an intriguing selection of pictures shown in the capital.
No Fixed Date

Ramadan: this month of fasting for all Muslims follows the Islamic lunar calendar. Things may become quieter at this time although decorations can be seen around Jordan, and non-Muslims do not participate.
