Festivals are not necessarily the highlight of Jordan and many can result in a reduction in party-like behaviour in the country. Jerash Festival: this two-week-long cultural extravaganza in the old Roman city of Jerash is a mix of theatrical performance, music, ballet, poetry, handicrafts and lots more, with most shows taking place in the evenings. Global Village: month-long event in the capital featuring country pavilions reflecting Jordanian culture and folklore, a theatre and a huge funfair with thrill rides, stalls and games on offer. Ramadan: this month of fasting for all Muslims follows the Islamic lunar calendar. Things may become quieter at this time although decorations can be seen around Jordan, and non-Muslims do not participate. |
