Amman’s nightclubs are mostly located at the top four- and five-star hotels, meaning that a night out can get expensive. Le Royal Hotel, for example, features the ultra chic Buddah Club serving up a Southeast Asian ambiance of colourful cocktails and dance music. JJ’s at the Grand Hyatt Amman is a bar with a dance floor that serves drinks to past one o’clock in the morning.
Although alcohol is not difficult to find, it is heavily taxed and therefore expensive. The exceptions to this rule are the locally brewed Amstel beer, which is more reasonable than the most common imported beers like Guinness, and Jordanian wine which is of a good quality and readily available.
Amman is certainly seeing its nightlife explode by Middle Eastern standards and now many clubs are even featuring international DJs and special events, but those that are seeking out a party city should look elsewhere, especially during Ramadan.
