Although it is located right down at the end of Jordan, Aqaba is still very convenient to reach thanks to its status as a port and its proximity to the international borders with Israel, Egypt and Saudi Arabia. For many, the perfect way to reach Aqaba is by ferry from Egypt across the beautiful waters of the Red Sea. Aqaba is easily reached overland by bus or taxi from nearby Petra and Wadi Rum, just an hour away, or from Amman – which takes under four hours by coach. There two very scenic routes from the capital, the first taking in the Dead Sea, the lowest point on the earth, and the second through the desert past the cliffs of Wadi Rum.
