Introduction to Amman - Tla Al Ali
The upmarket Amman suburb of Tla Al Ali is located just to the north of the historic city centre. The district is around 15 minutes by taxi from Queen Alia International Airport. Ambient Tla Al Ali hotels provide a comfortable location from which to explore the Jordanian capital's plentiful visitor draws. As well as modern shops, there are traditional cafes where patrons can relax over gourmet coffees and snacks such as the piquant mansaf rice and chicken dish. Jabal Amman abuts the district and boasts heritage architecture. The two districts have the highest concentration of Amman's nightclubs and bars. As the city is built over a series of hills, it is easy to spot its key landmarks. The dome and minarets of King Abdullah's Mosque can be seen from afar. The capital's international exhibition centre and the Jabal al Qal'a, one of the country's most important historic sites, are within walking distance. The Temple of Hercules and other ruins from the last 7,000 years draw copious amounts of visitors here annually. The site hosts an archaeological museum where artefacts from all over the country are displayed.Visit our Amman Travel Guide
