Introduction to Al Aqaba - City Centre
Al Aqaba is a magnificent port city situated on the Red Sea, and is one of the most southern cities in Jordan. It is home to about 110,000 residents, and is blessed with marvelous natural features. It is an outstanding beach resort that is famous for its diving spots and sandy stretches of coastline. The city centre, however, is also well worth a look. In fact, many Al Aqaba City Centre hotels are among the best in Jordan. There is an interesting museum located in the heart of the city, making it possible for tourists to do something other than laze upon the beach. In addition, there is a church that was built in the 4th century which shouldn't be missed along with a 16th century fort. Apart from the diving tours and beach area, the main sites of the city, especially in the central part old town (Ayla), can easily be seen in a day.
