Introduction to Yokohama, Japan
Yokohama is a famous port city in Japan, just south of the capital, Tokyo. The city is probably best known for its Chinatown, the largest in Japan, where visitors can enjoy great Chinese food and shopping. The most recent development in the city is the Minato Mirai 21 development along the waterfront. Here, there are restaurants, shops and residences as well as the Cosmo Clock 21 Ferris wheel. As with most port cities, Yokohama is proud of its maritime history, and the Nippon Maru boat park showcases this as well as the Marine Tower, which provides excellent views of the city. To see some excellent examples of Japanese architecture, head to the Sankei-en garden, a traditional Japanese-style garden. The owner has bought and re-built several traditional Japanese buildings in the garden, which are now considered to be national treasures.
