Introduction to Tochigi - Utsunomiya
Utsunomiya is the capital of Tochigi Prefecture in Japan. The city is famous for its jazz music and cocktail bars. There are many attractions for visitors to this beautiful city. Utsunomiya has Futarasan Shrine, which is accessed via a steep walk up a huge stairway. The temple at the top is very beautiful. Utsunomiya Castle is also worth visiting and a great place to picnic. Hachimanyama Park has 600 cherry trees and is a perfect place to see cherry blossom in the spring. The park also has botanical gardens, a zoo and sporting facilities. Matsugamine Church is another attraction in the city. Built in 1932, it is a Romanesque Catholic cathedral and the world's largest building made entirely with Ohya stone. The city has a good selection of Utsunomiya hotels and restaurants. There are also excellent transport services around the city and to other parts of Japan from JR Utsunomiya Station.
