Introduction to Takayama, Japan
Gifu is one of the most mountainous prefectures in Japan, located along the central backbone of Honshu. Takayama is considered to be one of Gifu’s most beautiful towns, radiating an unsurpassed charm and traditional culture around every corner. The centre of the city is undoubtedly Takayama Station, which is also the major transport hub between the town and other cities such as Tokyo, Nagoya, Kyoto and Osaka. Many of the hotels in Takayama are centered near the main train station, and include small hotels, family-run inns, ryokans, and lodges. Most Takayama hotels provide taxi or shuttle services to and from the Takayama train station, and also to the enchanting attractions in the area. Some of the most alluring landmarks include the Old Town, the open air museum at Hide Folk Village, the onsen or hot spring resorts, the morning markets, and two days a year during spring and autumn the Takayama Festival brings thousands of visitors into town. The Takayama hotels are usually full during this time of the year, so advanced bookings are recommended.other spellings: takayamahotels, takayama hote, taka yama otel, tacayama, takayamma hotell
