Introduction to Okinawa, Japan
Japan is one of the most diverse countries in the world boasting temples, shrines, night life, shopping, and fine cuisine in a number of world cities. However, Japan is also blessed with a surprisingly serene tropical island chain known as the prefecture of Okinawa. Located between the Ryukyu Islands and Taiwan, Okinawa is the southern most prefecture in Japan. Hotels in Okinawa can be located in the main cities and along the coastlines of the many islands in Okinawa. Okinawa’s climate is sub-tropical, meaning winter temperatures can drop to between 10-15 degrees Celsius. Therefore, Okinawa hotels are busiest during the summer months, when the temperature is at its most favourable, along with the weather. Unfortunately, Okinawa is prone to cyclones between the months of August and October which have proven quite disastrous for local villages and the economy. With a plethora of Okinawa hotels and resorts situated on beach front land, overlooking the underwater coral gardens that the prefecture is famous for, tourists can easily partake in scuba diving, snorkeling, beach sports, swimming or just relax upon the sun-soaked sands and watch the day roll by. The most popular islands in the prefecture are the Okinawa Islands and Yaeyama Islands.
