Introduction to Nagano, Japan
Famous for hosting the 1998 Winter Olympic Games, Nagano City is the largest town and capital of Nagano Prefecture. Although it lures a large number of skiers on account of its tremendous mountain slopes, there is so much more on offer in this unforgettable holiday destination. Hotels are not only in abundance, but generally provide wonderful facilities, and occasionally along with a high percentage of other cities in Japan, may have slightly less spacious rooms than the western world offers. Nevertheless, there are several types of accommodations here, such as traditional Japanese lodges, mountain resorts and large inner-city hotels. Nagano is well known for its Japanese charm and its ski fields. Some of the other attractions dotting the city include its famous temple - Zenkoji, Olympic features left over from the 1998 Winter Olympic Games, Matsumoto Township, and the alpine resort town of Karuizawa. Most hotels offer tours and transportation options for travellers wanting to explore the many sites in the area.
