Introduction to Nagano - City Centre
Nagano is the capital of Nagano Prefecture in Japan. The city is famous for the Zenkoji temple which overlooks the city. The city centre is an ideal place for visitors to stay, with a great choice of Nagano City Centre hotels. There are also some very good restaurants and transport links to the city's main attractions. The main attraction in Nagano is the Zenkoji temple. It was originally constructed in the 7th century and is believed to contain Japan's first ever Buddhist statue. The original statue is not allowed to be shown to the public, although a replica of the statue is put on display once every six years. Many other interesting and important buildings are inside the temple grounds, and it is a beautiful and fascinating place to visit. There are stunning views from the temple overlooking Nagano. It only takes 10 minutes to get to Zenkoji from JR Nagano Station in the city centre. Other more centrally located attractions include Nagano Prefectural Shinano Art Museum and Nishi-no-Mon sake brewery.
