Introduction to Kobe - Sannomiya
The biggest downtown district of Kobe is Sannomiya, a major hub for transportation as well as commercial activity. Some of the city's largest shopping complexes are here, such as Santica Shopping Centre and OPA Shopping Centre. Five different train lines also converge at Sannomiya train station, providing extensive transportation options both across Japan and within the vicinity of Kobe. To get an interesting insight into the local cultural scene, check out Ikuta Shrine, the most popular temple in Kobe, right in the heart of the city. This important port city has a number of impressive cultural attractions, natural sites and recreational facilities like golf courses. The home of Kobe beef offers visitors a huge range of restaurants and bars within Sannomiya district. Sannomiya hotels feature some of Kobe's most luxurious accommodation but there are also countless mid-range and budget lodgings scattered around the train station and in other downtown areas.
