Introduction to Kanagawa - Atsugi
Atsugi, in Japan's Kanawaga prefecture, is a commuter-belt suburb for the Tokyo-Yokhohama metropolis and home to several major technology firms close to some excellent natural scenery. Hotels in Atsugi offer accommodation close to key business interests, including Nissan's design centre and a design and technology office run by Sony. Tokyo Polytechnic University is about three kilometres to the north, along National Route 412, which runs nearby and links the city with several attractive forested areas, as well as Lake Miyagase, which is about 45 minutes away. The Liyama Kannon, which sits just outside the city, was founded around 725 AD and is an important pilgrimage site in Japan. The city boasts a couple of spas - the Liyama Sap and the Nanasawa Spa - both of which sit amidst beautiful forested countryside. Mount Oyama takes about an hour to reach but is one of the most notable natural sites in the area and well worth visiting.
