The historic 19th century Hokkaido Hotel is notable for its locally produced Tokachi clay brick exterior courtesy of Hiroyasu Higuchi, a world- renowned architect. This upscale accommodation in Obihiro features a cafe where guests can enjoy a good selection of original dishes by Chef Kazuyuki Kudo, while the souvenir shop makes it easy for guests to shop for glasswork, wood carvings and other Hokkaido handicrafts. The nine- storey property also offers hot spring baths where guests can unwind. It is served by different transportation options, enabling guests to get around on their own. The front desk also offers ticket services for shuttle buses.

Rooms are located in either the Hidaka Wing or the Garden Wing. The Hidaka Wing rooms offers views of the mountains to the west. The Garden wing rooms have views of this hotels famous garden in the south and with the floor to ceiling windows, guests are made to feel that these rooms are an extension of the garden with plenty of natural light. Many of the materials used in the interior decoration of the hotel are products native to this area of Hokkaido, including wood (Hokkaido Cherry), paper (Washi) for the window blinds and lampshades, bricks and ceramics. All bathrooms also have floor to ceiling windows so that guests can enjoy their surroundings to the full.
