Introduction to Hiroshima, Japan
Hiroshima is located in the Chugoku region in southern Japan and was the first city to be bombed by a nuclear weapon. A visit to this city can be emotional for some, especially when visiting the Peace Memorial Park, which is home to one of the only buildings that survived the nuclear bomb, the A-Bomb Dome. The city is actually a beautiful port and the centre is vibrant, with trams in operation. The imposing Hiroshima Castle, re-built after the bombing, is well worth exploring and tranquillity can be had at the Shukkei-en, a Japanese garden. The car company Mazda is the main employer in the city and car lovers will enjoy a day at the Mazda Museum. If visiting in May, be sure not to miss the famous Flower Festival. Sake lovers should head to the Saijo suburb, home to numerous sake breweries. Hiroshima hotels come in all price ranges, but the most convenient are located around the City Hall.Visit our Hiroshima Travel Guide
