Introduction to Beppu - Beppu Station
On the island of Kyushu, one can find the town of Beppu, known for its hot springs and natural scenery. Beppu Station is the main railway station in the city, with excellent daily connections to Tokyo, Fukuoka and Oita. There is a large helpful tourist information office right inside the train station to answer any questions about the area or through which to make bookings. This resort town is one of Japan's three great hot spring regions, with eight different hot spring areas known as onsen within easy striking distance of the train station and the downtown district. The top attraction here are the Ten Hells, boiling multi-coloured pits of bubbling water and mud along with a couple of geysers. While these pits are too hot for bathing, visitors will find dozens of developed hot springs and bath houses in and around Beppu.
