Introduction to Akita - Akita Station
Located on the eastern coast of the main Japanese island of Honshu, Akita is a small, attractive city close to the sea. The station sits in an excellent position just west of the main city in an area with plenty to offer tourists. Aside from the good train links to big cities elsewhere in Japan, including Tokyo and Osaka, the station area is close to numerous shops and green spaces. Nearby Senshukoen is one of the biggest parks in the city, just five minutes away on foot. It's an excellent place for strolling, with its well manicured gardens, shrines and waterways. In the station building itself, Topico department store offers a wealth of goods, from fashion to home furnishings, so too does Al Ve by the east entrance. Akita station hotels are tightly packed around the southeastern corner of Senshu Park, with a good selection of midrange accommodation at reasonable prices.
