Introduction to Akita, Japan
Although Honshu Island in Japan is one of the most beautiful in the country, Western visitors seldom visit meaning that there is not much of a choice of hotels in Akita. There are several ways of getting to the city from Tokyo. The overnight bus service or the hourly train services will take you to the city centre where the best hotels in Akita are situated. If you take one of the regular flights to Akita airport transfer time is about 45 minutes by bus. Whichever of the Akita hotels you choose take time to take a walk around Senshu Park where you will find a replica of Akita Castle. It’s worth paying the entrance fee for the vistas of the city from the top floor. Akita is in one of Japan’s best rice growing areas and you must not leave without trying some of the finest locally produced sake.
