Visitors coming to Italy from other EU countries are not required to show a passport for entry, but only evidence of their identity and EU nationality: a valid national identity card is sufficient for this purpose. For visitors from non-EU countries, a passport that is valid for three months beyond the intended length of stay must be shown.
