There is not much in the way of discos and nightclubs here, Venetians are not known for being party animals, and so what clubs there are often tend to be open only a couple of nights a week, usually Wednesday and Saturday. A typical evening out in Venice might involve a good meal and some fine wine in one of the city’s many restaurants, followed by some beers or more wine in a quiet bar or outside cafe.
Tourists here might be surprised to find that, in comparison to many other European cities, Venice’s bars tend to close relatively early. Generally speaking things start to shut here at around midnight.
Venice has a thriving classical music scene with a rich history and this is a very popular way to spend an evening here. Many of the city’s churches also double as music venues and some of the acoustics are superb. It is easy to find a concert taking place here all year round and the settings really add to the enjoyment.
Venice also has a good range of theatres to see some traditional theatre performances with Teatro Goldoni, Teatro Excelsior, Teatro della Murata, Teatro Villa dei Leoni and Teatro Toniolo all good options. There theatres also regularly showcase some of the best of Italian opera.
