Marciano Museum: located within the Basilica di San Marco, the Marciano Museum is one of Venice’s museum highlights. There is a gallery here from where you can view old tapestries, some ancient mosaics, and a number of significant historical documents. The museum is also home to the original bronze horse statues that once stood outside the basilica.
San Marco Square. Open: April to September: Monday to Saturday 10:00 to 17:30, Sunday 14:00 to 16:30. From October to March the museum closes at 16:30, Monday to Saturday.

Correr Museum: is Venice’s civic museum and faces the Basilica di San Marco, located in the bureaucratic buildings. There are a number of interesting displays here which will give visitors a good understanding of the history of the city. Entry to the museum is via the Napoleonic wing of the buildings.
Gallerie dell'Accademia: this art gallery designed by Carlo Scarpa, contains some of the most important Venetian works of art, including masterpieces by Giogione, Bellini, Titian and Tintoretto.

Naval Museum: provides a good insight into the impressive naval history of Venice. The first floor is filled with items relating to the shipbuilding industry that once thrived here, and includes a model of a Bucintoro, a huge vessel used for ceremonial affairs.
Glass Museum: details the history of Murano glass from the 15th century right up to the present day. The museum was established in the mid 19th century and contains a range of glass pieces, many of which were donated to the museum. The building that houses the museum was once the residence of the bishops of Torcello and is a grand and impressive structure.
