Siena Travel Guide - Getting There

By air: the nearest airport to Siena is just seven miles away but there are limited flights. Most visitors will choose to fly to either Florence or Pisa and then take a connecting bus or train.

By rail: there is a train station in Siena close to the main city centre. If you arrive by train you can take bus numbers 3, 8, 10, 17, 77 for the short transfer to Piazza del Sale. Siena has arrivals from Chiusi and Grosseto in the south, and a direct connection from Florence in the north.

By bus: there are long distance bus operators that connect Siena with many cities around Europe. There are also frequent services to places north and south of the city including Florence and Rome.
