Summers are long and hot, and during the day time temperatures regularly exceed 35°C, if you visit at this time of year it’s best to do your sightseeing early in the day. Traditionally much of Rome would shut down in August with people fleeing for holiday resorts, but this trend is not so prevalent today.
October is a popular time to visit and is known as the Roman Ottobrata, with sunny days and warm temperatures making it ideal. Evenings are pleasant and breezy and you can enjoy some wonderful Roman sunsets. Temperatures remain mild in winter, but there can be persistent rain at this time, average high temperatures in December are around 13°C.
