March/April Festivals

Easter: is probably the biggest event in Rome, with the pope himself overseeing the celebrations. Music can be heard from every church in the city, and there is a Good Friday procession every year.

May Day Music Festival: the beginning of spring is celebrated in Rome with a large music festival attracting performers from around the world.
September Festivals

International Festival of Urban Theatre: an interesting four-day festival in September that sees the streets of Rome transformed into a number of open air venues, with a range of young performers and alternative theatre groups entertaining the public.
September/October Festivals

Roma Europa: the city’s biggest performing arts festival takes place over September and October with performers from across the globe arriving in Rome.
December Festivals

Christmas: as you would expect this is an important time of the year in the Vatican, with ceremonies beginning on Christmas Eve with midnight mass.
