Metro: getting around by Milan’s Metro is clearly the most efficient option: three lines (1, 2 and 3) provide ready access to most of the top attractions and sectors of the city. You’ll also find many bus and tram stops located conveniently adjacent to Metro stations and tickets can be used interchangeably on most public transport services.
Metro services operate from 06:00 to midnight and later on Saturdays. Entrances are indicated by signs featuring a large letter 'M' in white, on a red background.
Taxi: all official taxis in Milan are white or yellow in colour, and display their license number prominently on the roof of the vehicle, as well as on a shield on the side. Transport by taxi within the city is fairly priced and can be the most convenient means of above-ground transport, if you want to go directly from point to point.
There are numerous taxi ranks throughout the centre, and service can be also be booked by telephone. Note that extra charges are applied for late night service, extra passengers and extra luggage.
