Florence Travel Guide

Introduction

Overview & Introduction to Florence
The cuisine is mouth-watering and the ambience is quintessential Italian. With this combination of features, it’s easy to see why this is such an enormously popular destination.
The city’s charm lies in the stunning architecture, its picturesque setting on the Arno river and the overall sense of timelessness that you feel when wandering through its streets. Even visitors who aren’t particularly knowledgeable when it comes to Renaissance art and culture feel themselves drawn into the wealth of wonders here.
The city is very busy during the high season, particularly during the months of July and August when the weather is sunny and hot. Spring and fall can be perfect times for a visit, with cooler temperatures, and shorter queues, although the weather can be a bit unpredictable. Regardless of the season, the city and the region have much to offer visitors, both in the splendour of Florence’s buildings and art and in the lovely Tuscany countryside.
