Florence Travel Guide - Airport

You are advised that an alternative to the Florence airport, particularly if you’re coming from an overseas location and don’t want to deal with connecting flights, is Pisa's Galileo Galilei Airport. It is the closest alternate international airport, and is connected to Florence by frequent train service.

Amerigo Vespucci airport features a good array of facilities for its size, including currency exchange services, ATMs, souvenir and duty-free shops, bars, expresso bars and eateries.

The airport’s shuttle services, operated by Sita/ATAF, run to the central train station, Santa Maria Novella, throughout the day, with a journey time of just 20 minutes. The trip by taxi is a bit shorter, taking only 15 minutes, but fares can be quite high.

Parking: passengers will find short and long-term parking options at the Amerigo Vespucci Airport, conveniently located close to the airport’s terminals: disabled passengers and drivers will find reserved spaces adjacent to the terminals.
