By air: Bologna Guglielmo Marconi International Airport, located 6kms northwest of the city, provides a number of flights connecting Bologna with European destinations. After a major renovation, the airport now boasts excellent facilities including bureaux de change, a bank, post office, ATMs, car hire desks, restaurants, bars, shopping areas and two VIP lounges.
Ground transfer options include taxis, hire car or shuttle buses. The Aerobus shuttle operates services to the city centre every 20 minutes, with a journey time of approximately 20 minutes.
By bus: coaches leave for Bologna from London’s Victoria Station, arriving at the coach station in Piazza Settembre. The journey takes about 24 hours, so can become very arduous. There are services running to Milan and Ancona in the south, while regional Pullman buses run to Ferrara and Modena.
By car: Bologna has excellent motorways known which link the city to the rest of the country. The north to south A1 connects Bologna with Milan, Florence and Rome; while the A3 runs to Venice and Padua. The Adriatic coast, Ravenna and Rimini are connected to Bologna by the A14.
