Introduction to Verona - Cittadella-Porta Nuova
Verona is a major tourist destination city in northern Italy and attracts visitors with its UNESCO designated old central quarter and myriad cultural offerings. There is a good choice of hotels in Verona, with some in the old district contained within the horseshoe of the River Adige and more south in the environs of Porta Nuova Train Station near Piazza Cittadella. The Verona hotels in this latter area are either in or just off Corso Porta Nuova, which is a quick walk from museums such as Castelvecchio and Lapidario Maffeiano, Piazza dei Signori, the well preserved Roman arena, San Zeno Maggiore Basilica and the iconic Castelvecchio Bridge. There is a good choice of eateries and cafes near Porta Nuova which serve up delicious Italian staples, coffee and wines.
