Introduction to Venice - Lido
Lido of Venice is a sandbar island located just a kilometre southeast from the main island-city of Venice. More than 20,000 residents call the island home while thousands of tourists find themselves drawn to the area each year. There are plenty of Lido hotels located on the island to accommodate travellers. One of the most important festivals in the city is the Venice Film Festival, which is held on the island in the month of September. Thousands of visitors flock to the island for this event. A popular landmark on the island is the Venice Casino, which is the premier nightspot for travellers to Lido. Even though the beaches of the island are mostly private, they are great spots to take the family if access can be gained. A golf course located at the far south of the island allows visiting golfers to satisfy their passion. The primary attractions of Venice, such as Saint Mark’s, the Doge’s Palace and the Grand Canal, are just a short boat ride away. Visit our Venice Travel Guide
