Convenient for visitors to Venice, Castelfranco Veneto hotels are typically a 40-minute drive from the Queen of the Adriatic. This Northern Italian town, a major rail junction, is connected to the provincial capital and mainland Venice by rail and to the area's two airports, Marco Polo and Treviso, by road. While it doesn't offer the major attractions of Venice or the superb beaches of the Lido, it provides affordable accommodation and comprehensive tourist amenities without the crowds. Visitors will find enough of interest here to warrant a short stay, including an old town featuring the remains of a castle, medieval towers and a pleasant square. The early 18th century cathedral houses artworks by Giorgione, including the priceless Madonna with St Francis and Liberalis. All that is left of the castle are some walls and towers, yet within this area are a theatre, shops and the town hall. Good local cooking can also be enjoyed in the eateries of the old town core of this Veneto suburb.
